It begins with a general introduction to the age-old, deeply sacred practice of supporting spiritual leaders, teachings, and communities through financial contributions.

On that page we then welcome you to support Human Sun Institute, the for-profit company through which we offer the goods and services of our Human Sun HEART Work™ to the world. The work has been best known as Waking Down in Mutuality® or Waking Down®. Its most publicly accessible offering is an online course, Maximizing Joy™.

As the co-founders of that work, on this page we, Saniel and Linda, are honored and pleased to invite you to become a financial benefactor to a separate company we now call Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary Fund. 

Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary Fund is a registered fictitious business name of Ma-Tam Temple of Being, Inc. ("the Temple"), a nonprofit religious corporation recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and support the religious purposes of the organization.

If a tax deduction appeals to you, please consult a qualified tax advisor to make sure you can take advantage of that benefit. 

We established the Temple as a tax-exempt religious corporation in 1995 and ran our entire work and mission through it for most of a decade. In 2005 we made it non-operational, doing our own work primarily through our for-profit company that became known as Human Sun Institute.

In spring 2025 we brought the Temple back into active operation, with the new "dba" ("doing business as" name) Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary. Its new purpose is distinct from yet related to that of Human Sun Institute:

To support and celebrate the spiritual haven known as Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary and to distribute its blessings as a beacon of peace and joy on Earth — and as the worldwide sacred home of the Human Sun HEART Work and Human Sun Institute. Here we are graced to live and transmit to all the wisdom, love, and harmony of the HEART, to rejoice in Nature and creatures, and to conduct religious and spiritual practices dedicated to optimal total wellness, embodied spiritual awakening, and personal and collective transformation of consciousness, character, and culture. 

Just by our living and doing our work here for most of two decades, our rural, rented home and yards in Sonoma, California, have become a sacred domain, suffused with grounding, peace-giving Heart-transmission.   

Thus the name, "Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary."

Two of our coaching clients who live in Canada came and spent some time with us here one afternoon in early 2025. Soon afterward they sent us this beautiful acknowledgment:

"We recently paid Saniel and Linda a friendly in person visit at their Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary.

Immediately upon arriving we recognised the potency of their space, and our hearts were so moved that we spontaneously offered to honor this vibrant energy by writing a testimonial.

It was as if every space and object  in their sanctuary was radiating love and the transformative energy of belonging.

We had known that being in Saniel and Linda's presence would be activating but we had not known that their home would itself be so nurturing and stimulating.

These men and all our other visiting friends, students, and clients, as well as our family members, have contributed their own blessing presence to the peace of Being that pervades this space.

So of course do the trees and flowering plants, the hundreds of birds, and innumerable other living beings who live or visit here, including of course our beloved cat Stripes.

We also share the greater property with another non-profit. It operates an equine therapy center here for children and young adults on the autism spectrum. Their work is entirely separate from ours; we have a wonderfully friendly relationship with them as co-tenants. 

That organization's team and clients, along with their many horses, dogs, and a special chicken named Dos Equis (!), add so much to the general ambiance of the place as well.

A longtime friend had already set up a monthly automatic, non-deductible donation to Human Sun Institute, through which we offer our teachings, coaching, and publications. When he recently learned that it's now possible to donate online to the Sun in Your HEART Sanctuary Fund, he decided to make a separate monthly, tax-deductible gift to the Fund as well, to help sustain this sacred refuge. 

We hope you and many others will be moved to do something similar, with whatever amounts work for you. In today's world, one of the keys to prosperity for nonprofit organizations is having a substantial number of donors contributing on a monthly basis. The same can be true for for-profit companies like ours that also accept financial gift-contributions.
